“Best” doesn’t quite do justice to Madeleine’s croissants.
I am truly grateful for my time at Waterfront Cebu City Hotel, and it was an unexpected bonus to be assigned to the Pastry and Cake Department. That experience allowed me to witness—up close—the craftsmanship behind some of the finest pastries I have ever tasted.
Chef Daniel Lajoux created a range of croissant flavors, including almond, chocolate, and the classic original. While each one is exceptional, the chocolate croissant remains my personal favorite.
Every bite is an experience beyond the ordinary. The croissants are consistently fresh and perfectly crisp, and knowing that they are crafted by Chef Daniel himself—who hails from France—only adds to their authenticity. You may say I’m biased, which is precisely why I encourage you to try them for yourself.
Truth be told, I was never particularly fond of non-Filipino cuisine. But Chef Daniel changed my perspective. Through his passion and skill, he introduced me to the beauty of exploring different flavors and cultures through food—and for that, I am genuinely thankful.
