It's Not All About the Money

"Chase the vision, not the money."

Business often begins with a simple but powerful impulse: the desire to create change and offer solutions to existing problems. From this impulse, a vision is born.

According to the Business Dictionary, a vision statement is an aspirational description of what an organization seeks to achieve in the mid-term or long-term future. It serves as a clear guide for choosing both present and future courses of action.

Long before Keekay.ph grew into what it is today, my partner and I already shared a clear desire—to help every Pinay feel beautiful at all times and to make quality beauty products easily accessible online. From that desire, our vision took shape: to become the leading online makeup store in the Philippines.

Straying away from a clear vision significantly diminishes the chances of survival and can ultimately undermine what could have been of lasting value. Vision gives direction, focus, and purpose. When you pursue the vision—the one thing that truly matters—everything else, including financial growth, naturally follows.

It’s all about the money—and yet, it’s not all about the money. This is the paradox of enterprise. Who doesn’t like the smell of it? After all, money matters. We work to earn it because without it, how can we provide for our needs or take care of the people we love?

And yet, business was never meant to revolve around money alone.

At its best, business is about building an ecosystem—one that creates value, opens opportunities, and helps people and small businesses rise to the top. Money is essential, yes, but it is not the mission. It is the result.

As I’ve studied the lives and journeys of people at the top, one realization has become clear: money should never be the goal. Impact should be. The true objective is to serve—to solve problems, to meet real needs, and to positively affect the lives of millions.

When you focus on service, growth follows naturally. When you commit to value creation, trust builds. And when you dedicate your work to helping others succeed, you’ll often find that money grows—sometimes even into millions—not because you chased it, but because you earned it through purpose-driven work.

In the end, money is a powerful tool. But purpose is the engine that keeps enterprise moving forward.
